Carleton and Shea File Suit

Today a complaint was filed by the B Directors, Terry Carleton and Bill Shea, against the Board claiming that “Shea and Carleton have been marginalized, prevented from attending the committee meetings where much of the substantive work is accomplished, denied access to documents and the innumerable consultants the new Board has hired and, generally, deprived of the ability to perform their duties.” Continue Reading

Lies, Secrets and Deceptive Practices

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings.”–John F. Kennedy

Things have been quiet, everyone received their Christmas bonus, March bonus and profit sharing, so everything is just dandy, right? Wrong. Don’t forget that the BOD denied the extra $14 million at Christmas and knocked down the profit sharing contribution to 15% from the 20% ATD had proposed. In fact, very likely the ONLY reason you received a March bonus was because ATD had the checks already cut before the BOD even knew about it. You see while most of you have been complacent and feeling things were getting back to normal, ATD has been fighting tooth and nail for us and the “A” shareholders have been working just as hard to destroy our company.

There was apparently a Board meeting scheduled for this past Monday that never took place because there wasn’t a quorum and that is what precipitated this law suit.

I think we need to reiterate that the Consumer Reports article needs to be kept first and foremost in everyone’s eyes. This is an amazing accomplishment for the Market Basket personnel and management.

A few key points: Market Basket with 71 stores is going up against Publix which has 1080 stores and a hell of a lot of buying power. In fact of the top six, Publix has the most stores.┬áBy the way, according to the report, Publix has only “okay” prices to MB’s “best” prices. Only Trader Joe’s (408 stores), Costco (648) stores and Market Basket had BEST PRICES. Wegman’s – the number one store only has 83 stores, but they are moving ahead with openings on our turf and we are stagnating.

Come On Board of Directors – please stop the nonsense and let the associates and management do their jobs! Here’s hoping for third place next year!

Sincerely,

Connie Whittall – loyal customer…

A Video sent from a friend of WAMB

A friend of WAMB sent this to us…very interesting

A TED talk I came across this evening. The similarities between how the people acted in this test and the ways ATD (who always had the wealth) and ASD (who just came upon his wealth) differ is quite uncanny.
